A controversial art exhibit was raided and shut down before it could be viewed in NYC yesterday.

According to the NY Times blog: Cityroom, Boston-born performance artist, Yazmany Arboleda, tried to set up a provocative art exhibition in a vacant storefront on West 40th Street in Midtown Manhattan with the title, "The Assassination of Hillary Clinton/The Assassination of Barack Obama".

The artist thought his racist views were protected under the Constitution because he was expressing himself through his art. Wrong.

Not 30 minutes after Arboleda set up the gallery across the street from the New York Times building, police, feds and secret service swooped in to shut the art exhibit down. While police covered the offensive storefront window with brown paper, Arboleda was led away in handcuffs to be "interrogated".

Arboleda, 27, learned the hard way that freedom has its limits. Later, in an interview, he said: "It's art. It's not supposed to be harmful. It's about character assassination — about how Obama and Hillary have been portrayed by the media." He added, "It's about the media."

I am appalled at this news and after reading this blog the 'artist' is setting up shop elsewhere? This is sick, sick , sick. You have to be able to know the difference between art and garbage, and this is GarBAGE!!!! It's in keeping with the old way of politics.

this is ...just plain stupid................and what kind of name does he have and what nationality is this man....and to call his children " nappy headed hoes ".......he needs to be put in psychiatric care and a hospital...to stay permanetly......this is inferiority.......and jealousy....in the worst form.....this is what he has been taught...probably since birth.....his parents were ignorant.......so what does that make him........black people are envied....because most ot the time we are trend setters......why are they always trying to get their lips plumped up....sun tanning....hair in braids......and white men ...have an inferior complex about black men...so do the women.it is the truth.....all of this hatred and racism.....is nothing but pure evil......in its deepest form.......god help this man.....if he can.....barack will be allright.......god has his hand..on his shoulders........god will deal with people like this....wait andd see

I have three words in regards to this artist work relevant to the law - defamation of character. This artist broke the law...

its a shame that we stll have to live through this and for his children to be attacked it doesn't make any kind of sense and if you notice in all the moives where whit people do use the n word its not to hard for them to say no matter what he will be our next presdent of the united states of AMERICA for all the people

Hmmm....i voiced my opinion over at my blog www.therezidue.com......so i will keep it brief here. I'm sorry, but Im not absolutely outraged at this exhibit. I think I get what dude was trying to do and that alot of people are misinterpreting it. I mean, he explained what he was doing and if you accept that and apply it to what you are seeing, you will get it. But with you acknowloging the explaination, the point will be missed severely and will of course, make you mad. The exhbit doesn't strike me as hateful at all. Its actually pretty accurate. The onlything I have a problem with is his choice to use Obama's daughters in the "nappy headed hoes" shot, thats poor taste, BUT i get what he was trying to do. But please, visit my blog www.therezidue.com....i didnt want to eat up alot of space here, all that I have to say is over there. I think it will make you look at it at least a little more differently.

This is crazy, but you have to be prepared for anything. I don't understand why so many people hate us but want to be like us, they wear their hair like us, they want to tan to be our color, the wear braids like us, they try to sing and dance like us, and they even wear weave (humor).

Honestly this is sickening. I'm glad they acted on this fast. How does one get away with putting this up in the first place. Doesn't someone have to approve this? ...then to involve children that is just UNACCEPTABLE!!!
